5 Tips for Using OK Google to Find Nearby Appliance Company
It's easier than ever to find appliance repair and other necessary services. Armed with just an Android phone, the world and local repair techs are at your fingertips. Best of all, you don't even have to lift a single finger to do it. Using OK Google, you can find nearby appliance repair companies just by saying the words aloud. That's good news, especially if you have your hands full with an appliance crisis.
Using OK Google is super simple. After all, 55 percent of the U.S.'s teenage population use voice searching like pros. If you're not among the teenage population, though, you may need a fast primer. Here are five of the best tips for using OK Google to find nearby appliance companies on the map.
One Step at a Time
First, if you haven't used OK Google before, start with the basics. Make sure your mobile location feature is activated so your phone knows where you are. Tap in the Google search bar on your phone. Say, "OK Google," and wait for the beep. Then say, "Show nearby appliance companies on map." OK Google responds, "Here are your results." If your phone uses Android 4.4, you don't even need to tap inside the Google search bar to begin the process. Simply say "OK Google" while on your mobile device homepage.
Occasionally, you may get a written response, "Can't reach Google at the moment." In these cases, you can try a similar voice search through Google's messaging platform, Assistant. You can also just wait a few minutes and try the OK Google search again later.
How to Use Results
Your query to Google will generate a list of local appliance repair companies near your location. Like any Google search, the companies listed at the top of the results page are paid advertisers. Don't ignore the top-listed companies just because they're paid advertisers though.
Use OK Google to Find Quality Repair
If you don't already have a trusted repair company, you need to quickly vet the results to find one. If the company has reviews connected to its Google+ page, the listing will show the number of reviews. Click on the listing and read through the customer comments about service satisfaction. If you want to do further research, use some handy OK Google tricks to find more information. Say "search Yelp reviews for XYZ appliance company" to find relevant Yelp comments. Say "go to Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair" to check if the company is state registered.
You've Chosen a Repair Company, Now What?
Once you've decided on a repair company, simply click on the phone icon next to the listing. Google will dial the number for you so you can set up a convenient service appointment. Occasionally, the phone icon is missing, but that doesn't mean you're out of luck. Make note of the name of the company, and click back in the Google search bar. Say, "OK Google, call XYZ company in SF," and the number will be auto-dialed for you.
If you want to take your appliance directly to the repair shop, OK Google can help again. Simply say, "directions to" or "navigate to" and the name of the repair company. Google will provide you with walking and driving directions to the shop from your current location.
Return the Favor
After your appliance has been repaired, leave a review about your experience on Google+. OK Google isn't just wonderful because it's easy to use. It's fabulous because it pulls in all sorts of helpful information, from phone numbers to reviews. Give other people the benefit of your experience by leaving an honest review of the company you used. You can even use OK Google to access the company's Google+ reviews to make the process effortless.
